Bloemers Chile Base was first made in 1919 by Frank B. Bloemer, Sr. in the back of his neighborhood grocery store. The people from the neighborhood began using the base to make their chile and took a great liking to the product.

As years went by, the demand for Bloemers Chile Base grew significantly and the company started manufacturing it and selling it to other grocery stores.

After Frank, his son, Lawrence Bloemer, Sr., guided the company for many years expanding both the Bloemer’s line of food items as well as establishing a successful food service distribution business.

Lawrence Bloemer, Jr., took over for his father and continued to grow the business. In the late 90’s, Lawrence sold the food service distribution side of the company in an effort to focus more on the Bloemer line of items.  Soon thereafter, Bloemer’s started co-packing products for other companies.  While the Bloemer line of items has continued to grow their presence throughout Louisville and the surrounding areas, co-packing has expanded into several new markets with great success.

In 2011, Timothy Bloemer, the son of Lawrence Bloemer, Jr., joined the company as the 4th generation to work at Bloemer Food Sales.
